Melodic Marbles

Prior to my career in music, I trained as a mechanical engineer, first at Yale University and then University of Utah. While pursuing my graduate degree, I conducted robotic research at NASA Ames in California.

While I'm not so much of an engineer anymore, I do love to design and build things. Sometimes that's a fence in my backyard, or a garden bed, or a little free library from the leftover fence wood. Other times it's using CAD software and my 3D printer to make pieces for marble runs.

Yep, marble runs. I've always been obsessed with marble runs. As a kid, I used to cover the walls and ceiling of my bedroom with marble tracks made out of cardboard tubes or K'nex. As an adult, not much has changed.

And the only thing better than marble runs are marble runs that make music. So in the last few years, I started up a youtube channel dedicated exclusively to this, and then later an Etsy store, where others can buy my gravitrax compatible xylophones and percussion pieces.

When I was a kid, my dream job was toy-maker.

I made it!
